Unfortunately the Curb Appeal Lottery for 2023 has passed. Check back here in early 2024 for information on the next round.

Bancroft homeowners and property owners of non-commercial properties with up to four units are eligible to participate in the program. The property must be located in the Bancroft neighborhood and the program is available only to existing properties, not new construction. Renters are encouraged to work with their landlord to apply. Businesses and commercial property owners are not eligible to participate in this program, but could be eligible for the Great Streets Façade Improvement Program.

Some examples of eligible projects are:

painting and trim work (paint, supplies, scraping)

exterior lighting (scones, yard lights, porch lights)

masonry work and tuck pointing

restoration of historically appropriate exterior finishings and details

hardscaping (retaining walls, steps, sidewalk, pathways)

labor and permit costs (however, homeowners who do the work themselves cannot bill for labor)

Some examples of ineligible projects are:

fencing (purchase, installation/construction)

landscaping (plants, trees, flowers, sod)

rain gardens

yard art or decorations (i.e. holiday lights, bird bath)

BNA staff will determine if the expenses are eligible for reimbursement based upon funding source restrictions. BNA will not increase the reimbursement if the total cost of the project exceeds the requested amount in the application. If the property owner did not match 50% of the total cost of the project, the awarded amount may be reduced.

Note: Since this program is funded through the City of Minneapolis Neighborhood Revitalization Program (NRP), homeowners must be current on all property taxes and assessments in order to receive funds from BNA.
