Hello Bancroft neighbors. As this summer has shown us, we are all safer when we are connected and prepared. The Bancroft Neighborhood Association uses a texting service to communicate quickly and efficiently with neighbors when there are sustained public safety threats. We will activate the service when there is sufficient concern and will use it to share legitimate threats or requests for help. This is about us being able to look out for each other, not about being a neighborhood patrol. To be added to the public safety text line, please sign up at https://slkt.io/7Z1P

Best practices for keeping yourself and neighbors safeā€¦

  • Protect your home by ensuring that you know your neighbors and that your external lights are all working. Be sure that you have your documents and a go-bag ready if things are particularly tense.

  • History has shown that safety for all is easier when neighbors are looking out for one another. Talk to your neighbors about what sort of sort of safety response would be most appropriate for your block. Many neighbors have started block text chains, whatsapp, or signal groups. Some blocks have formalized block captains and watch groups.

  • The Powderhorn Safety Collective is a group of community members who are organizing alternative ways towards keeping the greater Powderhorn region (including Bancroft) safe for all. During times of community upheaval or unrest, their Facebook page will likely serve as a resource for information, community safety responses, and events: https://www.facebook.com/Powderhorn-Safety-Collective-110798767447531
