The Bancroft Neighborhood Association Board of Directors is tasked with governing the organization.

Board meetings are open to the public and happen on the 2nd Thursday of every month at 6pm at Bethel Lutheran Church (4120 17th Ave South). Check the calendar for the latest, and see past meeting minutes here.

  • Board members are expected to attend all board meetings.

    Additionally, board members are required to serve on at least one committee, attend the annual half-day board training retreat (in the neighborhood), and help with neighborhood events to ensure they are all successful.

  • Currently, the BNA board is comprised of neighbors, business owners, long term residents, and new home owners.

    Board members are volunteers who are elected by Bancroft community members at our annual meeting each fall.

  • Paula Zaretzky

    Board President

    Paula joined the Board in 2023 shortly after moving to Bancroft, and has been the president since 2026. Originally from out of state, she has come to deeply love Minnesota and her adopted Bancroft community. Professionally, Paula works in corporate sustainability, though she started her career as an engineer. Personally, Paula and her husband foster kittens and have proudly foster failed only three of them. She also does gymnastics and is grateful for the opportunity to continue her childhood sport well into adulthood.

    Peter has lived many places around the world but has called Bancroft home for the last 9 years. He has served on the board since February 2020 and as Treasurer for about half that time. 

    Favorite things about Bancroft: Bancroft School (2 kids who are going or have gone there), bike/walkability and the incredible neighbors. He would love to see Bancroft become an even stronger and interconnected community. A social worker working with seniors for his day job, he fills leisure time with gardening, live music, dancing and anything outdoors (biking, running, climbing, canoeing). Ask him about all the great streams to paddle around the metro.

    Allegra grew up in the Twin Cities and always knew she’d end up in Minneapolis proper. She is proud to call Bancroft home and loves exploring the neighborhood with her husband, dog, and kids.

    As a born and raised Minnesotan, Zoë moved away for college. After falling in love and starting a family, she knew that she wanted to be back in Minneapolis so they could have the same idyllic life that she did growing up in this amazing state. She is excited to have found such a beautiful community in Bancroft. 

  • Jessica Riley

    Jessica moved with her husband to Minnesota in August 2025 and immediately fell in love with Bancroft and Minneapolis as a whole. She got connected with her neighbors more quickly than she expected when Metro Surge started, and from there, ended up assisting with the organization of chats and breakout groups, facilitating weekly neighbor meetings, and occasionally serving as a constitutional observer. She met more neighbors than she could keep up with and was blown away by their commitment and love for their community. Now she is a member of Bancroft Rise, an appointed BNA board member, and the block captain of 39th and 14th. She says, “I was just one small part of the Bancroft Resistance and couldn't be prouder of what our neighborhood has done and continues to do.”
