As an incentive for basic security enhancements to homes in the Bancroft neighborhood, the Bancroft Neighborhood Association (BNA) will provide a rebate up to $50 for eligible safety-related improvements. 

 

All residential properties in the Bancroft neighborhood may receive a rebate without regard to participation in other BNA programs. Multiple applications may be submitted, but the total rebate amount for any property is $50 per calendar year. BNA reserves the right to verify through inspection that claimed work/purchases were, in fact, installed.

 

 

Eligible Improvements include:    

Exterior security/motion lights (including any necessary wiring and electrical work)    

Exterior steel security doors, including garage access doors

 Storm doors that have the ability to lock   

Deadbolt locks on exterior doors, including garage access doors

Window or sliding door security locks or security restraints

Initial installation of a home security system

Initial installation of security cameras that do NOT share data with law enforcement

 

Examples of ineligible improvements:

    Combination doors not of the all-steel “security” type, even if lockable.

Monthly monitoring fees for a home security system    

Personal installation time or “sweat equity”    

Security system monthly monitoring or service fees  

Batteries, fire extinguishers, light bulbs or other consumables Tools, tool rental charges, or design services

Radon tests

Window bars

Cameras that auto-share data with law enforcement (i.e. Ring)

 

At the July 2020 board meeting, the BNA board amended the Security Rebate Program to make any camera system that automatically shares data with police departments ineligible for reimbursement from BNA. The above list is not exhaustive, so if you have any questions pertaining to your project being eligible under this program, please contact the BNA office prior to making a purchase or installing anything.
