(Scroll down for link to a new mutual aid intake form.) Dear neighbors, It’s been a couple months since Operation Metro Surge began in the Twin Cities. As board members of BNA, we’d like to express our deep gratitude for the resistance and mutual aid work you’ve been doing in the community. In this moment of collective mourning, you’ve found the courage and strength to care for families targeted by this unprecedented federal occupation. Your tireless efforts make a difference and have not gone unnoticed. We want you to know that we are with you. Over the last few weeks, we have individually joined you at vigils, organizing meetings, and neighborhood patrols. We have attended the weekly safety gatherings, appeared at city council hearings, and contributed our personal time and resources to mutual aid efforts.
As an organization, there’s a lot we’re working to improve. We entered 2026 with many challenges. Budgets for neighborhood organizations continue to decline, and we’re now almost entirely run by our volunteer board members. While we have each been as involved as we can be, we acknowledge that BNA has a ways to go to return to full capacity.
At this time, we are focusing our organizational efforts on connecting neighbors to resources. We have set up a new mutual aid intake form on our website to direct those looking for help to the most appropriate organizations who are already doing great work on the ground. In addition, we have been organizing block captains around Bancroft, and we are facilitating block connections.
