What's Going on at Nokomis Center?
The Bancroft Neighborhood Association Redevelopment Committee has been meeting with neighbors and parties involved with Nokomis Center to find answers to this question! Council Member Glidden has been involved in these meetings and is supporting the neighborhood.
So far we have learned:
- A new property manager and leasing agent team started work at Nokomis Center as of June 1, 2007. A lease for 4,700 square feet at the north end of the building was established before this change.
- The plan that had been posted on the door is NOT approved by the city. That plan referenced several businesses and suggested that a check cashing facility would be located in the north end of the mall area. At this time, no application for the check cashing business has been received by the state. This type of business is licensed by the state and there will be an opportunity for the community to submit comments about the license application. City staff from licensing are maintaining communications with the State to find out ASAP if/when an application is submitted.
- The leasing agent is taking a wide approach to market the site. If you have ideas for businesses that would be a good fit help connect them to the leasing agent, Northstar Partners.
