After a hiatus in 2011, the Art Shanties Project Returns to Medicine Lake this weekend.  The Art Shanties are “a four-week exhibition that is part sculpture park, part artist residency and part social experiment, inspired by traditional ice fishing houses that dot the state’s lakes in winter.”  Out on the ice you will see everything from a regulation-size basketball court to a Flintstones-style people-powered car to a re-creation of Minnesota life in 1849.  Build a fort from pillows, blankets, and pulleys in the Fort Shanty and outsmart the bridge troll at the Nordic Village Bridge.  Dress warmly!  Even in a mild winter like this, it is COLD out on the lake.

The Art Shanties Project is open on weekends from 10:00 to 5:00, from January 14th to February 5th.  For directions and more information visit www.artshantyprojects.org
